This position will be responsible for internal controls, process documentation and improvements as well as compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and SSAE 16 (SAS 70).


Job Responsibilities:


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following and are separated into the major functions:


Internal Controls - process understanding, documentation and development of key controls - approximately 50% of time

- Understand all critical processes within Specialty Benefits, across dental, vision and Life and Disability

- Document and/or update documentation of processes, financial risks and related internal controls

- Develop improvements to processes and work with the accounting teams to implement the new controls and processes

- Perform limited testing of internal controls


Regulatory Compliance - approximately 25% of time

- Testing and reporting compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley

- Oversight and management of SSAE audits

- Certain other regulatory reporting


Special Projects - approximately 25% of time

- Individual would be considered a "problem solver" and strategic thinker and would be asked to help in specific issues which come up. Projects would be of a financial/accounting nature and would be required to perform various analyses to resolve the issue.

Skills / Requirements


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting

  • 6+ years of progressive professional experience in finance and/or accounting

  • Public Accounting or Insurance industry experience required

  • Past or current experience with Sarbanes-Oxley or internal controls

  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Expert level of proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)




Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree and/or CPA
