The Coding Specialist provides coding support to all Maryland Family Care and Saint Paul Place Specialists physician practices, as well as Physician Patient Accounting, as needed. The Coding Specialist will code operative notes in various specialities, to include but not limited to Pain Medicine, Orthopedics, and Gastroenterology. S/He assists Patient Accounting Represenatives in billing follow up and as denials relate to CPT and ICD-9 coding. The Coding Specialist must be flexible and able to work in multiple locations (Overlea, Tide Point, MMC and home.)

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED; coding education preferred. Must possess three (3) years coding experience; must possess two (2) years practical experience in surgical coding. Must possess coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA. Must possess excellent understanding of CPT/ICD-9 coding and modifier usage. Computer usage (Windows, Outlook); ability to communication effectively with physicians, management, peers, etc. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
