The Director, Quality and Safety-Patient Care Services is responsible for developing programs, systems and processes both in the Patient Care Service Division as well as hospital wide; works in partnership with the Senior VP/CNO to develop the nursing leadership team, foster interdisciplinary teamwork and support the strategic initiatives of Mercy and ensure financial accountability for Patient Care Services; provides leadership hospital wide; works in collaboration with Medical Staff for problem solving solutions; is a role model for Directors and Leaders in critical thinking, preparing and delivering presentations; keeps abreast of current technology and current literature to bring ideas to professional practice into best practice for Mercy Medical Center; is an active member of a professional organization; has direct over sight of nursing quality and safety program; and acts as chair person for projects and work groups both for nursing and hospital wide.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a Master's degree. Five (5) years relevant experience in Patient Care Service setting with knowledge of compliance to JCAHO standards, as well as all other applicable regulatory agencies. Leadership Skills: able to demonstrate skill in team building, staff development, coaching/mentoring, role modeling and work ethics. Interpersonal Skills: superior oral and written communication skills. Technology Skills: Able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and e-mail. Must possess an RN License in Maryland.
