Jobing Description
Department: Med/Surg-8th Floor
Schedule: Regular Part-time
Shift: Day/Evening Shift
Hours: With holiday obligation

- High school diploma or equivalent is required

- Customer service skills are required

- Experience is required

The Patient Service Representative coordinates the daily operations of the nursing station; maintains the efficient flow of patients, visitors, staff, and information on the patient care area. The Patient Service Representative provides direct clerical and administrative support to the patient care departments; performs medical transcription, including automated order processing, and scheduling patients for tests; and maintains medical records during patient stay and at discharge and effectively manages customer requests for care, service, and information.

Skills / Requirements
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have proven expertise in medical terminology or completion of a medical terminology course. Certificate of completion of medical transcription course preferred or proven expertise in medical transcription. Must possess at least one (1) year of clerical experience in healthcare. Must be able to type a minimum of 45 wpm. Must possess the ability to communicate and deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, customers, patients and the general public.
