Description:
The Regulatory Compliance & Incident Response Manager will work with the three major teams in APL Maritime (APLM), which are the operations, engineering & safety/quality/environmental systems. This position will support the engineering fleet managers and both the operations and SQEMS directors & become the incident response manager, ensuring APLM has experienced manager in charge of any incident or crisis response.
Accountabilities:
* Awareness of new regulatory & environmental requirements & understanding/communicating the operational & financial impact of these requirements for both the vessels and APLM to the management team.

SQEMS maintenance in line with continual improvement process.
*
Assist the SQEMS Director with managing safety & loss control program.
*
Formalize the APLM Incident/Crisis Response Plan. Exercise this plan on a regular basis to ensure the response team members are fully trained & aware of their responsibilities. Carry out annual drills/exercises to ensure effective response/communication with both the regulatory bodies & APL Management teams.
*
Recommend to APLM management team the most cost effective method of meeting new regulatory requirements, including recommendations for changes in operational/engineering procedures & APLM SQEMS procedures & documentation.
*
Alternate DPA (Designated Person Ashore) with associated responsibilities, and support the operational and technical staff with regulatory compliance issues and research.
* Primary responsibilities in advising vessels on the formal response to 2692 filings.
*
Alternate company Security Officer with associated responsibilities.
*
Up to 50% travel
*
Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
* Degree in Marine Engineering &/or Nautical Sciences
* Minimum US Coast Guard 3rd Mate unlimited gross tons or 3rd Engineer unlimited horsepower license
* Incident Command Training from ICS 100 ICS 800
* Lead Auditor Certification
* Anti Piracy/Terrorism & Force Protection training
Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Minimum USCG 3rd Mates or 3rd Engineers License & sailed on them with US or Foreign Flag vessel/Company .
* Must have at least 5 years in the Maritime Industry with additional experience preferable with an U.S. Regulatory Organization (Class/USCG/Gov) as well as Incident Command experience interfacing with Fed/State/Local government agencies
* Excellent communication skiills (verbal & written)
*
Proficient in MS Office including words, outlook, excel, powerpoint & project
*
Ability to work in a self-directed team environment; integrity fostering trust and a positive work environment; innovation - bringing creativity to the workplace.
*
Proficient in ABS nautical systems NS5 modules; certified ISO/ISM auditor;
*
Previous shore base ship management experience or business experience with a shipping company or in an affiliated field, or equivalent military service.
