Jobing Description
Candidate will join the Propulsion Engineering Department in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Division at AAI Corporation. The propulsion engineering department is a growing department with responsibility for development, design, testing, and support of various unmanned platforms including unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.
Experience with hardware development and prototype design, fabrication and testing are desired. Exposure to solid modeling, component design, design for manufacturing and hardware development and testing are required. Candidates with industry internships and work experience are preferred.
Responsibilities may include any of the following:
* Participate in propulsion product improvement projects and R&D design projects as part of a team of multidisciplinary engineers.
* Design innovative mechanical solutions to complex problems within the propulsion subsystem.
* Conduct analytical, developmental, design, and test assignments, related to unmanned aircraft propulsion system concepts, products and technologies.
* Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers of powerplant components and subsystems as needed.
* Design detailed mechanical systems and component designs working closely with engineering design and manufacturing teams.
* Support system configurations from prototype component generation and build to production release and engineering transition to production support.
* Perform CAD solid modeling and drafting. Create prototype and production drawings.
Author test plans, test reports, SOWs, modification Instructions & user manuals.
Required Skills
No previous work experience is required. However candidates with industrial internships or some work experience will be given preference. A BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
Required Experience
Computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office applications. Experience with 3D CAD, FEA, or Matlab software desired. Must have competent technical writing and excellent oral communication skills using the English Language. Must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US security clearance.Must have an interest in propulsion: Automotive, boating, ATV's, Aviation, Radio Controlled vehicles/aircraft
