Job Description The Senior Architect works on unusually complex Transportation Architecture technical problems. Develops solutions which are highly innovative. Assignments are often self initiated. Acts as an advisor to management and clients. Oversees the work of less experienced architects. Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings, develops details and edits specifications. Responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership on one or more projects. Perform specific project design and development tasks, including programming, reports, drawings, calculations, and specifications. Respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications during construction administration. Adhere to accepted industry and company standards. Plan, schedule, conduct, coordinate and direct the development of architectural project requirements to assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget. Review and understand drawings and specifications prepared by other disciplines and communicate with those disciplines to ensure project documents are completely coordinated. When assigned, supervise, coordinate, and review the work of other architects, intern architects, designers and CAD technicians. Support and enhance the Company s business development effort by assisting in pursuing new work, including participation in client presentations. Perform other duties as assigned. Accredited professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture), or equivalent at a minimum. 20+ years minimum experience with an architectural firm designing buildings and producing contract documents. Minimum 4 years experience in specialized transportation market segment required. Licensed Architect and NCARB Certificate. Experience on all phases and aspects of large and complex scale projects required. Must have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry, including Federal, State, and local laws and regulations that pertain to the transportation industry. Must have ability to develop functional requirements and project design criteria for variety of building types and design complexities, with ability to work in all phases of a project s development including projects of moderate scope and complexity. Limited travel as required to meet training and project requirements. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills. Strong technical skills, creativity and design ability. Prefer LEED Accreditation, or desire to obtain it. Proficient with Windows, Outlook and Microsoft Office products. Advanced spreadsheet skills required. Proficiency of MicroStation required. Strong understanding of AutoCAD and BIM principals (Revit and/or Bentley) desired. Experience with graphics programs such as Photoshop, PowerPoint, SketchUp and/or InDesign is preferred.
