Position Summary:

Oversees brand identity, marketing, public relations and communications. Subject matter expert in the visual and verbal identity of MECU Credit Union and how that translates into effective creative, copywriting, and delivery across traditional and digital marketing channels. The Director defines and directs the corporate and integrated marketing strategies, plans and oversees the calendar for the marketing department. The Director oversees and manages all marketing initiatives including traditional marketing channels, email marketing, search engine management, marketing automation, social media, digital advertising and search engine optimization through the help of an outside agency.

Oversees large-scale online and offline campaigns including branding, member loyalty, content marketing, and line of business support. The Director has a deep understanding of the MECU brand and ensures all messaging and creative executions are in line with corporate identity and standards.

Oversees internal and external communications including public relations, advertising, content marketing, social media, branch merchandising and newsletters. The Director oversees all third-party marketing agency relationships and manages the marketing and communications day to day operations and budget. The Director leads a team of marketing specialists.

  • Responsible for developing the internal and external communication programs and ensuring a consistent member experience for both MECU members and employees.
  • Responsible for developing a positive working relationship with key internal stakeholders and subject matter experts and has a deep understanding of business goals and objectives. Delivers campaigns that gain internal partner buy-in and drives results at the organization level and tactically for the business lines.
  • Responsible for overseeing the design, development and implementation of marketing campaigns and communications that support our brand across all markets, lines of business and channels. Ensures that reporting on those campaigns and communications are completed.
  • Ensures that brand is consistently followed through all channels and touch points.
  • Responsible for ownership and updates to the evolving brand guide. Ensures that the design of all MECU identity materials reflect the brand.
  • Ensures that all marketing policy and procedures are followed and up-to-date. Also ensures that new policy and procedures are written when needed.
  • Oversees all external marketing/public relations agencies to ensure branch consistency, high quality of work product and maximum results.
  • Leads and/or participates on functional and cross-functional process teams.
  • Effectively manages, motivates and coaches a team of marketing communications specialist and digital marketing manager.

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelors Marketing (or Business Administration, Advertising, Communications, Public Relations) required; Masters Marketing Preferred
  • 7 years Financial Industry Required
  • 2 to 4 years Financial Industry marketing Required

Additional Experience Information

At least 7 years of experience in financial services.
At least 2 years of experience in managing financial services marketing.
